
Bellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young 19 February 1970)[1] is an American actor, producer, and singer, best known for her role as Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama series Scandal (2012-2018). In recognition of her performance, she received the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting actress in a Drama Series in 2014. Also, she was a part of the Fox show Prodigal Son (2019-2021). Young started her career as an actor through theatre. In 1997, she had her Broadway debut in the role of Mary in the initial production of The Life. As well as being her Broadway debut, she's appeared Off-Broadway as Mary in Stephen Sondheim's musical You Roll Along (1994) as well as Randy Newman's Faust (95-1996). 3][10] In 1995 she made her television debut in a recurring role on"awkward" NBC daytime soap the show Another World as Dr. Courtney Evans. In 1997 and 1998, she appeared in two scenes on Law & Order. In 1999 she made her debut in film with one small part in the crime thriller Black and White and later co-starred in several independent films. Young began appearing on range of dramas on TV and comedies during the decade of 2000. This comprised The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. Young has made more than thirty appearances on television shows from 2000 to 2011.
