She was initially inspired by shadows reflected on grass. Months later, she developed a method that did not create the object she chose onto canvas in a flat image. The object has been transformed into it's own representation, and the surface takes its interpretation from the artist. This works best for objects that are living or items that are perishable like fruits and people. Alexa Meade's style of painting, which is very ephemeral in nature, is apparent. The only work of Alexa's art that survives is her photograph. As the photographic and painting methods are closely coordinated and result in a trompe l'oeil effect, that creates it appears as if three dimensions is only visible at certain points, such as the area around the eyes and the hair. Meade occasionally integrates painted models in the space surrounding them. It allows them to interact with this world the artist has constructed. This way, the line between photography and painting is dissolved.
